My Aunt Pat (Uncle Ducks wife) passed away this month. It was unexpected, but she passed in her sleep which is definitely how I would like to go! My Mom and Dad helped my Uncle get the funeral arrangements together. Mom and I spoke at the funeral and Summer and Lake sang "I Am a Child of God". It was a very short, but very sweet funeral. My cousins all were able to brave the ridiculous snow storm that was happening across Michigan and half of the Midwest at the time! It was so great to see all of them and get to visit with all of them. My little cousins are now grown! It was a sad time but I think we all felt it to be a blessing to get to be all together.
This is my Uncle Duck with his kids, grand kids and me and my family! I could tell it really made him happy to have them all there with him!
We enjoyed the evening playing games and talking. All my cousins stayed at the Old Family Farm House! My Uncle Tap built this house in the 60's. He was a bachelor, but he built the house plenty big so the family could all get together there. Tap died about 10 years ago and left this house to my Dad. This house is STILL the family meeting place. Whenever anyone comes to visit this is where they stay and they have all been staying there for the last 50 years! It still has the original carpet, lot's of the original furniture and that same smell that it had from every vacation that we ever took there. It's such a great place to go for ALL of us to relive old times! I sure did love getting to see all my cousins and I hope they will visit more often!
