I am CONSTANTLY getting onto my girls about their manners. So we decided to have a Family Home Evening to address this issue! We talked about nice words and "please" and "thank you's" and everything else that could possibly fit under the umbrella of "MANNERS"! Then we practiced out table manners. Johns parents did this for FHE when he was a boy and we decided to give it a try. I set the table very nice and we talked about how and when to eat each thing. We started with soup:
Snowball soup to be exact (Hot Chocolate with Mint Chocolate Ice cream). Needless to say...They liked it!
Then for the Main course we had steak (brownie) ,mixed veggies (M&M's) and bread (mixed berry muffins). We practiced cutting our "meat" with a knife and fork, buttering our bread, and using the right utensils for each food.
I decided to skip the dessert! The girls all behaved wonderfully and I hope they learned a lot! They were sugared up for the rest of the day, but tonight at dinner they reminded me that I wasn't eating with my napkin in my lap-they all were! Funny, Smart Girls!
