50's Homeschool Sock Hop

We had a Back to School Sock Hop with our homeschool group in September. So I thought I would whip us up some skirts. We had a sewing day with other women who actually KNEW how to sew. I thought I'd give it a shot...how hard could it be...it's only felt and elastic, right?

I really am allergic to sewing machines! These stinkin' skirts took me a week to finish! That was WITH 2 days of help from other people who actually knew what they were doing!

What a crappy week I had of cutting and stitching and cussing really loud (only in my head-not out loud), AARRHHH! I feel like John did after tiling our kitchen! I'll never do that again! Some people were meant to sew and some were meant to SHOP-That would be me!

I kept telling Lake that her skirt was my favorite, because GRAMMY made hers for her last year! I didn't have to do anything except put it on her! That's why it's my favorite!

Summer's skirt had way too much material! But I had no idea of what I was doing and I was at the mercy of the other women that were all giving me different advice. Summer made her applique' which I thought turned out VERY CUTE!

Sky LOVED having the Pink Poodle! She is such a Girley-Girl!

It's funny that you can tell the kiddos that stay close enough to get their pictures. As they get older I seem to get less and less pictures!

Be-Boppin'

Twist it up Lake!

Sweet Sky

Rains highlight...Sundae Bar! All the ice cream you can handle!

Riley and Lake drinking their weight in Ice cream floats!

All in all the kids had a GREAT time with their friends and they all did look Super Cute dancing around in all their cute 50' outfits. We had almost 70 people there and it was a wonderful night to hang out with all of our homeschool friends! We really love our homeschool group! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Here is a little tidbit of how the evening went down. Make sure you watch to see John's SWEET moves!
