Lake turned 6 on November 29th and we still hadn't had a party for her yet. Between the holidays and parties and full weekends we just couldn't find the time to do it. So since the kids were out of school the week before Christmas, we decided to have a "Santa's Workshop" surprise birthday party for her. My friend Sean was very generous and let us have it at her house. John took Lake and Sky to run some errands while Summer and I went to get everything set up. Then it was "Show Time"!
She was really surprised! She had NO IDEA!
She had seen the cake when I was making it, but I just told her it was for a Relief Society party that I had to go to. I must say, I think this was one of my favorite cakes that I have made-I thought it came out really cute!
Gotta love sisters who pick out "trick" candles!
We sang on blew out the candles first thing because John had to leave for work and we wanted him to be there for that! So before we ate cake we got to work. In true "Lake Style" we did lot's of MESSY things!
With kiddos split into groups, they pulled up their sleeves and went to work!
They painted ceramics
They made Buckeyes (peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate)
...Dipped Pretzels...
and covered them all with WAY too many sprinkles!
After we cleaned up from the candy and crafts we started out making graham cracker gingerbread houses!
The frosting and crackers didn't stick very well, but the kids mostly just ate the candy and frosting!
Jaycee helped Lake make hers and it turned out really cute-she was very proud!
Thanks Jaycee! Then it was time for presents!
Thanks Grammy!
Thanks Grammy!
Thanks Lizzy!
Thanks Haskins!
Thanks LaVetters!
Thanks Terrells! After Lake opened gifts, we headed back to the kitchen for "Snowballs" (Hot cocoa, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, mini chocolate chips, a peppermint and whip cream on top).
When it was time to cut the cake the kids didn't want any! They kept groaning "Do we have to eat the cake?". I guess they were a little sugared up! All in all it was a huge success! Lake had a fun day with her friends and everyone had a SWEET time! Thanks Sean, Heather and Gretchen for helping me pull it off! You guys are Awesome!
Happy Birthday Lakey! We Love You!
