Fathers Day Camping Trip

On Fathers Day weekend we headed to Blanchard Springs for a fun night of camping! The girls had never camped in a tent before (outside) and they were very excited. We sang funny songs on our trip! "A-BOAT-BILLY-OATEN-DOTEN-BO-BO-SKADEET-ANDOTTEN-HA-CHA-WA-WA-MMM-MMM"

A Camping we will GO!

We decided to stop on the way and eat some pizza just in case we didn't get to eat again for a while!

After driving to three other FULL campgrounds, with a van full of crying, disappointed children we found this one!

Home Sweet Home! We got this tent at Target a couple of years ago for 35 bucks! It was an AWESOME DEAL!

The Sylamore Creek ran through the campground and it was beautiful and clean for swimming! We enjoyed a nice refreshing swim after being cooped up it the van for so long!

"DAD! Only LOSERS stand on the bank and take pictures!"

While we were swimming we began to hear thunder and see dark clouds moving in! The rain hit just before we could cook our hot dogs, so we ate ham sandwiches inside the tent! It was quite a loud, powerful thunderstorm with lots of pounding rain and blinding lightning! Summer and Sky were pretty nervous while it was going on. After we ate we entertained ourselves with reading some stories and playing with flashlights!

After the rain stopped the girls settled down and went to sleep and so did we! UNTIL...We heard this SCRATCH-SCRATCH-SCRATCH! John and I were both asleep and we both sat straight up in our bed! John sniffed to make sure that it wasn't a skunk, then he looked. It was just a raccoon, but he did get our attention!

The next morning we went on a little hike to see the creek!
For breakfast we had yummy warm cinnamon rolls!

After we packed up our camp we headed to Blanchard Caverns

First we went through their museum. They have re-done it since the last time we were there when Lake was a baby! It was way cool! They had real looking formations that you could touch. In this spot we looked up and saw a colony of bats. They looked so real! Summer kept looking at them and asked if they WERE real. "They just moved" she said. So we were just like "Yeah Sure". Then we looked closer and they DID move! It freaked us out a little! You had to look real close, but every once in a while one would shiver and then another one would squirm! It looked so real! Very Cool! What would we do if Summer didn't notice EVERYTHING around her?!

Then we took the tour of the cave. It is always neat to go see! John and I have both been there several times since we were little kids! Summer and Lake liked it but Sky was cold, tired and cranky! At least she kept it together until the end!
After the tour we headed to the swimming area for some fun!

Summer lookin' for shells

"Can I borrow your shades Dad?"

The girls loved playing in the crystal clear water!

Summer swam over to these rocks, all by herself, and jumped off several times! Way to go Summer!

We had a fun trip and had fun being together as a family! We sure do love our Daddy! John is a great husband and a wonderful Dad! He works so hard to take care of us and we sure do appreciate it! Happy Fathers Day Big Daddy!
