Virginia Laurel Parks Wray

On June 24th 2007 My Grandma, Virginia Wray, passed on to her heavenly home. Grandma was a very eclectic, eccentric woman who loved to write. She wrote many things, but especially loved her poetry. She loved color! Monochromatic was not in her vocabulary! She had been in a nursing home for about a month and was getting very tired of it. She had finally had enough and just went to sleep. My Grandma was a very faithful woman and she loved the Lord. She was not afraid of where she was going. My Grandma and Grandpa were the ones that let in some Mormon missionaries, many, many years ago. My mom was one of their eight children that were all baptized together as a family. I will ever be grateful for the faith of my Grandma that she passed to my mom. By the long suffering and faith of these women, my whole life has been blessed. I have had the legacy of growing up with the gospel in my life and being able to teach my children all of these things. I am grateful to know where I came from, where I am going and how to get there. I am thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who blesses me and my family daily. I know that my Grandma is now at peace and she will be there to meet me when I get there. See ya later Gram!

Grandma with seven of her eight kids!

Mom and I had dressed Grandma, all in white, and did her hair, make-up, and painted her fingernails. She looked so beautiful! The day of her funeral, the weather was beautiful! The funeral was in West Plains, MO and she was buried in the Salem cemetery. Summer, Lake and I sang 'I am a Child of God' during the funeral. I don't know what I was thinking-because as soon as the music started, my tears did too! Lake just stood there-but Summer ended up doing a solo! She did such a wonderful job! I was so proud of her! She did all three verses without a slip! She sure carried us through it. I'm sure Grandma was very proud too!

Oh my goodness, your mom looks just like her mother! It is very sad to see grandparents pass on, but isn't it great to have the gospel!!
